Holiday Home Inspiration

Christmas; the most wonderful time of the year!

I love classic Christmas decorations, like wreaths and a big tree with lights strung about.. but I am also really into a subtle touches of greenery and metallic tones this year. I've rounded up some of my favorite Christmas inspiration and broke them down into a few categories that always help me to figure out what I need to decorate.

The Table

For the time of year where we get the most dinner guests and friends over, the table is always something I take pride in decorating and making look pretty. Adding chargers beneath your white simple everyday plates can elevate the look instantly. Candles down the center of the table, add some green and a lacy white table cloth and you're ready to host!

Gift Wrapping

Wrapping is another way to get creative & find ways to wrap your gifts as uniquely as the gift itself. I think wrapping is half the fun in giving & receiving gifts anyways - a bad wrap job can make even the most thoughtful and cute present look like it wasn't as thought out. Little details like pine, a bold ribbon, twine, fun colored paper, or bells make the outside pretty & eye catching.

Garland & Greens

I like to keep my home simple and clean looking, no matter the holiday. I've found that my copper pieces have gone great with every season, and look especially festive this holiday. Instead of going for a bold cranberry red, I am just using those orangy-red tones from the copper as an alternative. I seem to always have fresh flowers and greens in my house, and thinking about getting rid of those for the next few months to make way for pine isn't something I wanted to do! So for more subtle greenery you can mix classic pine with some softer greens like ruscus or boxwood. These smaller leafed greens tend to have a richer and brighter green color to them, which can brighten up the darker tones of pine!

And truly, who doesn't love candles. They have a crazy way of making any home extra cozy. These birch wood candle votives caught my eye on Pinterest a few months ago, and my dad ended up making me some - he's amazing at woodworking and crafts like that (he also made the hutch in the picture at the bottom)! I like that you can clump them together and create more of a statement piece, or line them up down a table, add pinecones, some pine, and you have the perfect centerpiece.

Christmas Tree

If it's not clear yet, here's my holiday home decor breakdown: I'm ditching the classic red and green this year and decorating more simply, but not lacking any festive touches. For my tree - bring on the lights! Keep it simple with white lights and gold & copper ornaments. Those beautifully wrapped presents will sure look lovely under these pretty trees!

Merry Christmas!
