Rooted Blonde Hair

bronde (brunette + blonde) for fall

I just got my haircut and colored last week - I go to Elle at Chromatique Salon in Bellevue. We have been talking about going a little bit darker at the roots for sometime now, but I’ve always been nervous to do anything other than an overall bright blonde like I used to. Whenever you get your hair done I always recommend taking in a photo of something that looks similar to what you want, I feel like it’s easier for a hairstylist to go off of a photo then just based off of what your expectations are. Feel free to use these photos if this is the look you are going for!

My natural hair color is a dirty blonde so it pulls bright blonde really easily; my hair stylist says it doesn’t take very long to lift. But I do get a grow out pretty fast because my hair grows quickly. I only color my hair about every four to five months, so the upkeep for a bright blonde all over up to the roots hair color is hard to always keep fresh. I end up getting a pretty harsh line of grow out, even though the color is still a dirty blonde, it is pretty bold compared to the bright blonde that has grown out. So this time we decided to do a root coloring two shades darker than my natural hair color, and pull that color through down my hair about I/3 of the way. It’s not technically a balayage but it is a more rooted look where my hair can grow out & not look like such a solid line. I love the way that it turned out with the darker top, but still keeping the ends nice and bright. To get the bright blonde ends and face framing, she foiled the ends of my hair & brought the blonde down so the ends were nice and bright. This creates a nice pop of contrast compared to the top of my hair! For the ends we just trimmed or “dusted” them so they were straight & clean. Because I only get my hair done every 4-5 months I feel like my hair is pretty healthy, but a good trim is helpful to keep ends smooth. She also dusted the ends of my front pieces. I wouldn’t call them curtain bangs but they are a little shorter than the rest of my hair. I like that that add a little bit of framing to my face.

I definitely feel like blonde suits me and my personality as silly as that sounds ha ha so I love keeping the front pieces in bangs bright blonde, even though the roots and some of the rest of my hair is darker. I definitely feel like I really love this look especially for fall because without getting a lot of sun I could do in the summer my roots tend to get a little bit darker, so I think the color will look really good as it grows out. I also think dark here for fall is always a natural trend and this is a nice way to do that while also keeping my hair bright.
