We Bought Our First House!

we bought a house!

We are so excited and grateful to share this news! Since getting married in 20I6 we have rented various apartments - it honestly feels like we have moved so many times. We lived in a one bedroom apartment until I was pregnant with Taya, and we knew we needed more space with a baby on the way. We moved October of 2020 to a two bedroom apartment, and just about a year later (last fall) we moved again to the townhouse we currently rent in the Greater Seattle area. Our dream would be to build a home in a few years and be able to customize things we aren’t able to change in a remodel, but for the time being we are so grateful to get into the market and own a home! It has been interesting to watch the market fluctuate so much, see housing skyrocket, and to live in such an expensive area/city. It has been a good lesson for us on saving, trusting God in timing, and also just being patient and grateful where you are. We placed an offer on this house two months ago and heard back shortly after that we got the house on May 3Ist. The previous owners of this 4 year old home were still living here, so we were anxious to get the keys and see the inside again to start making changes. We didn’t get the keys until July 8th, so it was a nice test of our patience haha and we were also able to start picking out flooring, wall colors, lighting, etc in the meantime. Below I have a list of the updates and changes we are working on throughout the house. Although it was only built in 20I8, the finishes and overall feel inside the house didn’t feel like our personal style. There were a few things right off the bat we knew we wanted to change, some things we decided we would keep for now, and others that came up and we decided would be the best time to update now before moving in.

updates + changes

This is our game plan for what we wan to change and update in the house. The house is perfectly move in ready as-is, but we really want to make it our own style and feel like “home” to us while we are here. We are super excited to see these changes come to life, and I really think the whole space is going to seem so much more warm and welcoming. Some updates have already begun, as we are short on time with only two months to complete everything before we move in. We are so excited!
