Bre's Favorite Comfy Basics

my go-to comfy basics

+ Lululemon Align Leggings -  I love the Lululemon Align leggings because they are buttery soft but also feel like they hold things in & smooth things out. I get my true size 8 in these, however if you are planning to work out in them or like a more snug and secure fit I would definitely size down. I have several pairs also in a size 6 and they fit great, with a little bit more compression. Sizing down also helps them stay up around your waist and hips, so if you were planning to work out in them I would definitely go down a size. They have tons of stretch, and I really comfy, and I love that you can wear them anything. Of course they’re great for going on a walk, or low impact workouts, but they are also the most comfortable for daily wear. My favorite way to style them as with a sweatshirt or zip up and some sneakers.

+ White Sneakers - My all-time favorite white sneakers are of course the Nike Air Force ones! They just go with any outfit, from workout clothes to dresses and jeans, they are so versatile. However my most recent sneaker purchase are these Golden Goose platform sneakers. I honestly have not always loved the look of every pair of Golden Goose that I have seen, but I had my eye on this platform style and was super excited to try them on in store when you’re in Arizona! I ended up falling in love with them. Of course I love a platform shoe, that is no secret, but these are extremely comfortable and once again go with any outfit. I love the subtle sparkle of the star, that they are not pre-distressed like most GG, and the platform gives a little bit of extra height. I have a full blog post here with a more in-depth look at some of my other favorite sneakers, and they are definitely a comfy style basic in my wardrobe.

+ The Perfect Socks - It might sound silly but I really feel like good socks are super important to style an outfit, and of course for comfort. There are two different types of socks that I buy, and I actually replacde all of my socks with these styles. The first pair are seen in the above photos, these are from Amazon! They are a lightweight cotton and I love the height of them & how they stick out of a sneaker. They’re also great for under boots because they will stay up and not slip around heel. They are pretty thin and light weight, which I also love because it they don’t feel uncomfortable in your shoe. They also come in black, and I have those and love them as well. The second style of socks I love are from Lululemon. Actually it’s two styles! One is a no-show socks which is great when you don’t want your sock to show for workouts or with jeans. The other pair from Lululemon sticks out a little bit from the shoe which I think is sporty and cute. The Lululemon socks have more of a thicker material and a little bit of compression. They are great for working out. I buy a M in these.

+ Layering Long Sleeve - When I think of comfy basics in my closet I can’t forget long sleeved layers. The shirt I’m wearing any of those photos is a half zip from Lululemon, and it is so great. I love that the specific style is light weight, it is slightly cropped so it hits the top of leggings, sweat, or jeans perfectly. I like this one because it has a slight compression with lots of stretch, and it looks great with athletic clothes. I buy this one in a 10 which is one size up from my typical Lulu size 8 because it is so snug. I also have this zip with a hood from Free People that I love. I actually went up to a size large for my typical M at Free People because it is more cropped. Thinking of basics in your wardrobe, you want to make sure you are buying things that are neutral and can be worn in lots of different ways. I love that these long sleeve shirts & jackets can be worn with something layered over the top, like a vest, or worn on their own. Abercrombie actually just launched a athletic line as well, and I have this zip up from A&F which is so comfortable and a great main piece as well!

+ Layering Tank - I’m not really someone who loves to wear tank tops haha I am known for getting too warm and not being able to takeoff my sweatshirt or jacket because I have nothing on underneath LOL. But I really love these bralette style tanks from Free People. They are snug but stretchy and also come in a lot of colors. They’re great to work out and or style alone, they make a perfect layering piece, but I also just like to wear them as a bra sometimes. They don’t have any built-in support but they are comfortable and snug enough where they seem to hold things in. I buy the M/L. This is another basic layering piece that can be dressed up or down. I like that it is a bodysuit so it is more seamless with jeans.
