Comparing Two Styles Of Free People Movement Shorts

These two shorts are two of my favorite styles from Free People Movement. I thought I would do a little comparison of the two styles since I wear both of them so often. They do have a similar look but are a pretty different short overall, so hopefully this is helpful. This is not sponsored by Free People - I have purchased all these items myself and wear them often.

I really love both of these styles, and I’ve purchased several colors in both. I feel like if I’m wanting a short that’s just flowy, super comfortable, flirty, and it makes me feel really girly, I will where the Get Your Flirt On shorts. If I am wearing something really cropped and want a super high-waisted short that is flattering and fitted but still athletic I will wear The Way Home shorts. You can work out or lounge in both easily. Love both of them, I hope this helps!

The Way Home Short

First up is The Way Home short, this is one of the most popular styles from Free People. This particular short tends to run a little bit more snug than some other Free People styles. I am a pretty true medium, a size 8 in most brands, and I size up to a large in this specific style. The reason I size up to a large is because the waistband is pretty high and runs fairly snug. It is kind of a compressive material that has elastic throughout, and because it sets higher up on my waist I feel like it’s most flattering & comfortable to size up. These short have built-in underwear, which weirdly I really like because it just makes you feel like everything is being held in and it’s really comfortable. The built-in underwear underneath does not run tight at all it’s really comfortable. I love the shorts because they’re $30, I think they’re really affordable and they come in a lot of different colors. These can be styled for a workouts or just for daily wear it with sneakers. They have a really comfortable easy fit which I like. These shorts do not have pockets, and the material is a little bit swishy so you will kind of hear the noise of them when you walk, but it does not bother me.

The photo on the right is the skort version - called The Way Home Skortie, which is also adorable and flattering! A little more expensive, but the same fit and material as the shorts. This skort has the built in undies, shorts in the back, and a piece of fabric over the front to mimic a skirt. Love!

Get Your Flirt On Short

Ok the next pair I wanted to talk about is called the Get Your Flirt On short, also by Free People Movement. I find this style to runs true to size, and if anything if you are between sizes I would size down. It does have a similar looking band, however it is not as compressive and it does not go as high as the Way Home Shorts. Reasons why I love these shorts are.. because they are super lightweight and flowy, & it almost feels like you have nothing on, in the best way haha. They are a little bit shorter (probably a half an inch to an inch shorter of an inseam) than The Way Home shorts, which is good to keep in mind. They do have a side pocket on either side. They also sort of flare outward which I love, because it mimics the look of a skirt but obviously they are shorts. They have the underwear liner as well. These shorts are $40, which makes them $10 more than The Way Home shorts, and they also come in about 10 different colors!
