Spanx Leather Leggings

Spanx Leather Leggings

SHOP SPANX HERE: Regular & Petite / Plus Size / Maternity

It is no secret that I love the Spanx leather leggings during the fall & winter season - I feel like they are super versatile and literally can be worn with anything in your closet. This is the perfect time to purchase them as the weather changes & you get so much use from them.

Are they comfortable? When you hear the brand Spanx you may think oh it’s shape wear & that they would be too snug and uncomfortable, but they are actually a really incredible fabric that is stretchy and soft while holding you in at the same time. I really like that they have a higher waist, I think that it is very flattering. You can get these leggings in petite sizing & I would recommend that if you are under probably 5’5” or 5’3” because they seem to run a little bit long. I am only 5‘5“ tall and I can cuff the bottoms depending on what shoes I’m wearing - I don’t mind that look however I think if you are any shorter than that you might want to do petite sizing because they might be a little bit long on your legs.

How do I style them? As you can see from this blog post I typically wear them in more of a casual style, with my Dr Marten boots or sneakers, and a jacket or something oversized on top to cover my bum. You could easily wear these pants with a blouse & booties and dress them up a bit more. But honestly they’re so comfortable they really just feel like you’re wearing normal leggings so that’s why I love to wear them with such casual outfits. I feel like it dresses them up a little bit more and elevates a really simple outfit.

Maternity Spanx

When I was pregnant last year with Taya, her due date was December 1st, so finding pants during fall and winter was pretty difficult to find something that was comfortable and fit well over the bump. I was reading reviews on the Spanx maternity leggings at the time and honestly they had really poor reviews. I feel like either people weren’t getting the right sizing or just we’re not having good luck styling them. But I decided to purchase them from Nordstrom’s website anyways and I went with my regular size medium since it’s suggested to stick with your regular pre-pregnancy size. I found that they fit great if anything they were actually a little bit loose; the bellyband was huge & it had so much stretch that it went all the way up past my belly. Even when I hit the 40 weak point they fit great and I felt like my belly could’ve been much bigger and it still would’ve stretched all the way over the top. I found that tucking the top of the bellyband into the bottom of my bra I helped it stay into place & stopped it from slipping down. I think that was the main negative review when I purchased them was that people were having a hard time having the leggings stay up. The bellyband itself is really comfortable; it was a thin stretchy material but obviously it is not the same material as the leggings and so you do have to wear something longer to cover the bellyband. I didn’t have any issue with that as I feel like leggings typically need a longer top anyways - I don’t really want my booty to show or stick out of the top I am wearing lol.

Anyways these were my go to’s when I was pregnant in the fall & winter. I feel like I literally wore them every day for the last week of my pregnancy because they just were really comfortable and held things in, they are not see-through at all, and go with basically an outfit you can imagine.
