48 Hours In Brooklyn, NYC

hello brooklyn

I had the opportunity to fly to NYC with Tula for a Friendsgiving event in Brooklyn in November, and luckily Matt was able to fly with me and join along. We decided to go a day early & explore the city a bit more - and I thought it would be fun to list out some of the recommendations you suggested to us! This was our first time in Brooklyn (already hoping to go back someday!) and we were SO excited to explore the city, food, and views. Anything in BOLD on the lists is what we ended up doing/eating/experiencing. I will say, brunch at Sunday in Brooklyn was one of the best meals I have ever ever had. If you go for brunch you have to get the green juice + biscuits and gravy. Still dreaming about it haha!

Enjoy!

tuesday night

II/I2/I9 - 4:30pm

This morning Matt and I woke up at about 4:30am to get to the airport by 5:30 for our 7:30 fight to NYC. The crazy thing about flying from West Coast to East Coast is that you literally end up loosing your full day with the 3hr time change. So even tho we left Seattle at 7:30 am, we landed today at about 4:30pm at JFK in New York. SeaTac was a mess for me, leaving my phone of all things at the Alaska Airlines check-in and having to go back through security a second time.. yikes. The flight itself was not too bad, we actually landed about 30 minutes earlier than they though we would which was amazing. We caught the start of a gorgeous sunset which turned into one of the most colorful sunsets I have ever seen!

II/I2/I9 - 6:00pm

By the time we got into a taxi and got to our hotel in Williamsburg, it was around 5:30. We quickly changed and read a few Yelp reviews before deciding on a spot for dinner. Matt came across Juanchi’s Burgers online which was about a 10 minute walk or 5 minute Uber ride from the hotel. Upon arrival it really looked like a hole in the wall sort of pub, and inside it was all wooden and very small. It definetly had a certain vibe to it haha it was dark; except for a neon sign that reads ‘nothing’, and some dim lights. There was an old sitcom playing on a projector and elevator type tunes playing over the speaker. It was sort of perfect for just-getting-off-the-plane-kinda-don’t-wanna-see-anyone look that we were giving off haha! For a place that really only serves burgers, they were sort of average IMO.. they did have a great selection of some really unique combos. Mine had honey & eggs on it, and now looking back on it kinda tasted like breakfast! Matt’s had plantains and he liked the flavor a lot, but his burger itself was overcooked quite a bit. Overall it wasn’t that expensive, and it wasn’t amazing food but it was good if you are looking for a super chill & easy place to grab a burger. We do recommend to order the mozzarella sticks.. sooo good 10/10.

11/12/19 - 7:30pm

After dinner, right before we ordered another Uber, Matt saw that there was a Milk Bar just a few blocks away from where we ate. We decided to walk and get some ice cream & then have the Uber get us there. Keep in mind it is now dark & very cold (30 degrees or so) and we are walking to get ICE CREAM haha do not ask me why!! Actually it’s funny because I have wanted to go to Milk Bar since I saw the owner Christina Tosi on a Netflix documentary abut two years ago. It has never worked out that I have been able to go when I am in NYC, so we though why not do it now! This one in Williamsburg was really small (which I was not expecting for some reason) but they had the cute pink neon sign out front. We got a large cereal milk soft serve to share & it was delicious. We are so wiped out from the day of travel, basically we went back to the hotel room and are about to crash!
