Seattle Travel Food Guide

hey seattle!

As someone who had been born & raised in the greater Seattle area (just about 15 minutes north of the city) I have spent a lot of time doing all of the “Seattle things” haha but I never really think about the fact that so many of you are new to town, on vacation, or maybe are just looking for new places and areas to explore in your city. I am super thankful to grow up in such a beautiful place, and as I have grown older I have sort of found a new gratefulness for just how gorgeous our city is. It is pretty unique to have a huge city right on the edge of the water, and from this comes so much! We have some of the most fresh & delicious seafood, lots of cuisine and cultures represented right in the city, some of the most incredible sunsets, and everything within a short walk or Uber distance from each other.

lunch + dinner

Wether you are familiar with the city or new to town, you can’t deny that Seattle (like most large cities) has an amazing food scene. Basically any style or cuisine you are looking for you will be able to find several options. We are pretty simple when it comes to going out to eat; we are creatures of habit and find ourselves at the same few places over and over haha! There are a couple places we have been that we really love and recommend.

If you are in the mood for seafood we think the Six Seven restaurant at the Edgewater hotel can’t be beat. The view on the water is amazing, and if you sit out on the deck you will literally be floating above the water. My brother and sister in law can’t say enough good things about Pablo y Pablo for the best Mexican food, especially their street style tacos. We have also ate at Cafe Campagne and really loved the ambiance of sitting outside in Post Alley at sunset & really enjoyed our meals. If you are looking for really fresh and delicious sushi, Japonessa in Bellevue does an incredible job of creating interesting and flavorful sushi rolls. MBAR and Frolik! are both a unique experience of Seattle from the sky; rooftop bars with small bites and delicious drinks.

+ Cafe Campagne (French)
+ Six Seven @ The Edgewater (Seafood)
+ Pablo y Pablo (Mexcian)
+ Frolik! (Happy Hour)
+ MBAR (Happy Hour)
+ Matt’s at the market (American / Seafood)
+ Pink Door (Classic Italian / Experience)

what’s for dessert?

After dinner catch an Uber to check out one of these delicious & tasty treat shops. If you love ice cream, Seattle has you covered. If you are vegan and love ice cream (or just love delicious desserts in general), they really have you covered! Frankie & Jo’s has become one of my favorite places for a quick treat in the city. They have more traditional flavors, but are most known for their unique mix of seasonal and creative options. Both locations have funky and colorful desert vibes with bright orange & stucco and colorful wallpaper too. They make the best backdrops to get a little selfie of ice cream too haha!

+ Molly Moons (Ice Cream)
+ Hot Cakes (Organic Dessert Restaurant)
+ Hello Robin (Ice Cream + Fresh Cookies)
+ Frankie & Jo’s (Vegan Ice Cream)

coffee break

I am one of those people who loves coffee and drinks it every day, but I am the furthest from a coffee snob haha! I tend to think basically any coffee is delicious and if the place is super cute? EXTRA point ha!

+ Mr. West (Cafe + Coffee / Bar)
+ General Porpoise (Donuts + Coffee)
+ Storyville Coffee
+ Starbucks Roastery (Experience)

what to do in the city

There is so much to do in the city, especially in the Summertime! It is our favorite time of year to spend a lot of time exploring the city because there is literally nothing more beautiful than a sunset in Seattle haha! We make it a point every time we go out to eat to try and make reservations right before the sun sets, so we can walk to the pier or Pike Place to catch it after dinner. When the Great Wheel first came to Seattle years ago we went on a ride and loved it, and although it isn’t something you probably need to do every time you come to the city haha I would recommend doing it at least once or twice! It was especially a stunning experience while up so high in the sky in the wheel at sunset. We thought we were going to miss the sunset, but since the sun doesn’t go down until like 8:45pm in the Summer, there was actually still quite a bit of color and light in the sky when we rode around 9pm! It cost $17 per person for about a 15 minute ride; the wheel goes around three full times. We also love walking around Pike Place, picking up fresh food, and colorful flowers that are sold my flower farmers fresh daily.

+ The Great Wheel ($17 per adult)
+ Space needle ($37.50 per adult)
+ Pike Place Market (FREE of charge)

eat side: bellevue

If you live on the East side of Seattle (Bellevue or Kirkland) there are tons of amazing places to eat & explore there too! We personally are big brunch goers, and love The Commons in Woodinville for a Sunday breakfast/lunch spot. They serve Olympia Coffee Roasters coffee which is delish, and have cinnamon rolls the size of your face haha! If you are in the mood for something a little more healthy & light, Little Brother in Kirkland serves up amazing fresh meals all day long. They have incredible fresh baked goods; anything from cookies and cakes to pies and pizza. They also have massive coffee cups that look more like bowls to be honest!
