Dyeing My Brows At Home

I shared on Instagram stories a few days ago that I dyed my eyebrows at home and I just wanted to type up a little bit more detail for how I do it, since it is really so easy! So, I haven’t dyed my eyebrows in probably two years - I used to do it every few months but I sort of sort of feel like I was doing it too heavy for a while and it didn’t look amazing for lack of a better word haha. I think I figured out a better technique now that makes it look a little bit more natural & not quite so dark. Although my hair is dyed blonde, my roots are a very dirty blonde and almost brown at this point, so I do think having darker eyebrows looks natural. I hear somewhere that your brows should match your roots - not sure how true that is but I like the idea!

I buy this little kit on Amazon, it came with three applications. I do the color medium brown, and although it does tend to put a little bit warm, if I went any darker I think it would not look natural. While you’re at it, on Amazon I would also buy this spoolie brush. I use one end to apply the product on your eyebrows, almost like brushstrokes in the direction your eyebrows are growing. Then with a spoolie end, apply the product into the eyebrow hairs and make sure they get coated too. I think the eyebrow kit says to leave the color on for like a minute or two but honestly I just do probably 20 to 30 seconds, and then wipe it off with a make up remover wipe right away. The color is instant so can tell right away if you want to do another coat and add more color or if it is dark enough as it is.

*Something to note: the eyebrow tint kit has a color dye & an activator, and they suggest to apply them in to parts. For whatever reason I find it easier and more effective to just mix the two together and apply to my eyebrows at once. Maybe this is why I leave them on for a shorter amount of time, but it’s just easier to mix the two products together to make sure the color and activator it are mixed evenly.

*Another thing to know is that where ever this color touches on your skin it will be dyed for probably three days before it really washes off your skin. So not only will it dye to your eyebrow hairs, it will adhere to your skin. That is another reason I like to use the spoolie and the small brush, to make sure I’m really just getting where I want to color and focusing on my eyebrow hairs.

Color will last for a few weeks-months, depending on how often you wash your face or scrub them. They will look soo much darker when you first finish them, but will fade. Here are the products I use!
