furniture & couches

When decorating our living space I really wanted to keep it neutral and simple, but make sure it felt cozy & comfortable as well! Both Matt & I wanted to make the space feel like a home, and that whoever came in to our home would feel like they could just walk in and get comfy on the couch. It sounds silly haha but it’s so important to us! We spend so much time in the space - both playing with Taya and relaxing, and I wanted it to be functional for every way that we use it. This space still needs a rug and a lamp, both I am still on the hunt for the perfect pieces to add into this room, but I think they will make it even more cozy and homey.

White Couch - We’ve had this couch for two years now and we really like it. It is the Lotus couch from Crate & Barrel. The couch itself is really deep and pretty comfortable. What made us choose this Couch is that it is feather, so you can easily fluff the cushions and couch pillows to make it look new. We’ve spilled a few times on the couch and it does clean pretty well. I think the shape is perfect for the space because it faces the TV but also angles in the room nicely where it feels really inviting.

Leather Couch - The leather couch is from Restoration Hardware and it is called the Maxwell couch I believe. It is 8 feet long & also really deep, which is something that is important to us! I feel like a deep couch is more comfortable and inviting. Also if we ever needed to have someone sleep over on the couch it is big enough to be comfy to do so. I love the mix of leather and white in the space, it’s a great balance.

Concrete Coffee Tables - The coffee tables are concrete-like squares from Pottery Barn, pushed together to create one bigger table. The tables are not actually concrete - which I like a lot, because they are lightweight and you can push them around easily. They look really good in the space and create a nice contrast with the white and brown couches. They are fairly modern overall but I think in the space they just brighten up an overall traditional look.

TV Stand - Our TV stand is from Pottery Barn! I really wanted something that was black to offset from the lighter colors, and this one was the perfect height and length. The main issue I have with the TV stand is that it collects so much dust because it is that shiny black color. It’s not too bad, but it does need to dusted every few days. We also like to keep Taya’s toys in the cabinets on either side of the TV stand - which is a great way to keep them off the floor when she’s not in the room!

decor & finishing touches

Curtains & Curtain Rod - These linen curtains are actually a target find as well which shocked me because they look so beautiful in person. We actually looked at pottery barn 1st before deciding on these curtains from target, but Pottery Barn was super backed up for delivery and honestly like five times as expensive. They did take quite a bit of steaming out of the bag, but once steamed and hung they look so light weight and beautiful in the space. The curtain rods are a matte black and look stunning.

Decor - Most of the pillows are from Target & Pottery Barn. The wooden side table is a Target find under $100. I love that it matches the flooring and just blends in with the space nicely. It is super sturdy and looks expensive. The faux eucalyptus tree in the corner is part of the studio McGee collection at target. It is $180 which is maybe a little bit pricey for a faux plant, but it is honestly beautiful. I just love the way that it looks so natural and real. I find most of our decoration pieces from Target and Amazon. I also have recently been loving Etsy to find more unique pieces like the vase and checkered coasters!

Gallery Wall - This gallery wall really came to life with these large 20” x 20” frames (also from target haha). The black frame ties in some of the black details in the space & once again help keep it a little bit more modern and not quite so traditional. This whole wall only took six frames, which keeps it minimal and clean looking while also fill in the space!
