Baby Items We Still Use In The Toddler Stage
When I was unpacking Taya’s room at our new house, I realize there are so many items that we still use every day! I thought this post might be helpful for you if you are a new parent, making a registry, or just trying to figure out what items might be worth the splurge or to get an idea of what is an item you may use for a long time with your child. I’m gonna talk through each of the items a little bit and explain why we love them! Just a reminder that none of these are must haves for everyone or items that I’m telling you that you will need, but they are items that we use every single day and have really loved over the past two years.

what we still love & use daily
Newton Baby Crib Mattress
The first item that we are still obsessed with ^ will use until she moves to a big girl bed, is the Newton baby crib mattress. This mattress is 100% breathable, you can wash the cover and the inside, it’s lightweight, fits a standard crib mattress, and… It’s basically perfect lol. No I’m serious I really love this mattress and it was the first item we purchased when we found out we were pregnant. I am super grateful to have worked with Newton baby over the past year or so, and I feel proud to be able to partner with them to share about a product we really think is amazing. When I was a new mom I felt so much anxiety around Taya sleeping at night, and truly this was such a game changer for me when we moved her to her crib at a few months old.
Kyte Baby Sleep Sack
For sleep necessities, we have used the same Kyte baby sleep sack since we first starting using one when Taya was about four months old. They have a variety of sizes, some with the feet holes, others that zip fully up, and different thicknesses for different temperatures as well. We really like the 1 TOG for daily use, and the .5 TOG for the Summertime/heat. Basically it’s like sleeping with a cozy blanket around yourself, and I feel like it’s always kept her feeling really snug at night. It’s also nice to put her in the sleep sack before her nap each day, and at night, because it signals that bedtime is happening. The slip sacks also come in a bunch of different colors that are all really cute!
Little Sleepies Pajamas
It’s no secret that we love our Little Sleepies onesies & two piece pajama sets! These are made of bamboo and viscose, they are super stretchy, super soft, and I love all of the fun prints they offer. They come out with different prints every couple months and it’s been fun to buy different styles for her over the past (almost two) years. When Taya was a newborn I felt like they ran a little bit long and she had room to grow into, which is ideal when they are growing so quickly. I would say overall they are really true to size, she wears a 2T size and they fit snug with a little bit of room to grow into. She will be 2 in two months. I still really love the classic double zip onesie for Taya at bedtime, they are easy for diaper changes at any age and so comfy. I think my code BRE15 may work!
The Diaper Pail
The diaper pail is pretty self-explanatory haha this is definitely a must if you want to conceal the stinky smell of diapers. It’s been almost 2 years since we’ve been using this diaper pail and it might be time for a new one… Unless we can hold out until we potty train her next year ha! It really does a great job of concealing smell and holding diapers in one place. Surprisingly a lot of diapers can compact into this diaper pail as well. I like that has a lock on the top so Tay can’t open it!
Hatch Sleep Sound Machine
The Hatch sound machine has been another item that we literally use two times a day; once for a nap and once at night. My favorite part about the sound machine is that I can adjust the volume from my phone. The sound machine uses Bluetooth to connect to an app on your phone so you can adjust the settings throughout the house without going into your child’s room. It has a couple different sound settings which I also like, although we mainly use the white noise. It also has a few different colors you can use for settings as a child gets older to let them know when their wake time is. Definetly something you will use for years!
Water Wipes
For whatever reason the Water Wipes brand of baby wipes has been our go to since she was a newborn. They are literally 99.9% water which I think is really cool. They are really wet/saturated and clean everything nicely. We actually use these to clean our hands on the go, wipe up spills, whipe food out of the car, etc. I think you get the idea haha. They are really great, I don’t have it sent to them, and we just buy a big pack from Amazon.
Pampers Swaddlers Diapers
These Pampers diapers have been our go to since she was a newborn as well. There are a couple different brands that we like - however we love that these deliver quickly on Amazon, and we can get a massive box of them that will last several weeks to a month. Taya has always peed like 20 times a day haha since she was a newborn.. so having a diaper that doesn’t leak and holds everything in was super important to us. I really don’t know if these have a scent or not, it’s almost like Taya has just taken on the scent of the products and things that we use so it’s kind of hard to know if they do, but I feel like they don’t really have an added sent to them which I like. She is currently in a size 6 based on the size chart!
Portable Changing Mat
This little fold up portable changing mat is great because it is easy to wipe down and is washable! Throwing this in your diaper bag or leaving one in your car is a smart way to be prepared for diaper changes on the go. I like how compact and thin it is, that I can easily wipe it down, and that it’s not too thin either. We used this all over Disneyland last year when Tay was 10 months old, on road trips, or for changing diapers on the floor. It’s really great.
Baby Monitor
We originally put this baby monitor on my baby registry when we found out we were pregnant, but ended up upgrading to the larger size sometime earlier this year. This baby monitor has a large 5 inch monitor screen, it is really intuitive with where the buttons are placed, I feel like the quality is pretty great, and so is the sound. You can talk to your child through the monitor which I also think is kind of fun. My biggest PRO for this baby monitor is it it does not connect to Wi-Fi. I honestly just heard too many weird stories about people outside of your home being able to connect to the Wi-Fi that your child’s monitor is on, and Taya’s safety is obviously the most important thing to us. If you were looking for a monitor that is simple and easy to use, a mid range price, and does not connect to Wi-Fi, this one is for you. The one CON to this baby monitor is that the range can sometimes be a little bit iffy. I’ve never had issues with it inside of our own house, but when we’ve been other places/trips or we are several walls away from the camera, sometimes the connection on the monitor is a little bit poor. It always helps to put up the antenna to help the connection stay strong, but like I said we’ve never had any issues with this at home.
Ok I hope that was helpful! Those are my must haves for the newborn stage &
items I think are worth it because you will continue to use for several years! xx
