Postpartum Prep Before Baby Arrives

Postpartum Prep Before Baby Arrives - bresheppard.com

I know that each woman’s experience with pregnancy, birth, and recovery after is all so unique. So when I was buying some thing for postpartum & recovery I don’t really know exactly what I will be needing (or need more of) but this seemed like a great start. I discovered a brand called Frida Mom which has a lot of great simply packaged & straightforward items that are designed just for postpartum recovery. I bought some of those packs because I can throw them in my hospital bag or easily bring them where I need them. I also tried to link everything to Amazon or Target so you can make sure you get it as quick as possible if it’s something you need. I will be sure to do an updated post on what I actually use after baby is here & I am in the recovery process!

Packing Kit For Labor: Frida Mom Packing Kit For Labor - Nursing Gown, Socks, Peri Bottle, Disposable Underwear, Ice Maxi Pads, Pad Liners, Perineal Foam, Toiletry Bag

Tuck’s Cooling Pads: These hemorrhoidal pads with witch hazel are supposed to be a heaven-sent for after birth post-partum care down there. Gives immediate relief from burning, itching & discomfort caused by hemorrhoids

Dermoplast Pain & Itch Spray: This spray has no-touch application & quick pain relief. I put this in the basket next to my toilet for whenever I need some relief from pain!

Frida Mom Healing Foam: Speeds up healing of hemorrhoids, perineal tears, stitches & the entire perineal area after labor and child birth. Pump directly on top of maternity pad for cooling relief.

Frida Mom Peri Bottle: So many moms suggested this for replacement for the one the hospital gives you! You will most likely need one as you are healing since it can be painful to wipe. I have it already in a small bin next to the toilet with some other essentials for post-partum care for after birth.

Frida Mom Disposable Underwear: Lots of women say they will stay in these the first few days-weeks after birth to help with recovery since they hold everything in. They are a full coverage + tagless boyshort. Designed to hold layers pads during vaginal postpartum perineal recovery.

Frida Mom Perineal Medicated Pad Liners: Covers the full length of most maternity pads to help reduce swelling and speed up healing, with added witch hazel for cooling effect.

feeding + pumping

Small Bedside Lamp: Perfect to keep plugged in on your night stand for a little extra light while feeding at night. Double tap the top to power on/off the light or hold the lamp logo to switch light color.

Comotomo Baby Bottle: I know that it can sometimes take a few different bottles to find the right one for your baby, but I actually love the look and feel of this one a lot! I hope she likes it haha.

Spectra 1 Electric Breast Pump: This breast pump had great reviews & was recommended to me by several friends of mine. It sounds like it has good strength to the pumps, while not giving up mobility. You can also set the speed and mobility to your own liking - I will definetly update you all when I use it and let you know how it is working for me!

Lansinoh Hands Free Breast Pump Bustier: Allows you to multi-tasking while pumping! Helps give a tight seal & better suction while holding your pumps in place & should work with all double electric breast pumps. It also has some adjustability to keep it snug in the back, and it comes with small straps if you prefer that to strapless.

Medela Harmony Handheld Breast Pump: Great for pumping on the go, in the car, while on a plane etc. Lightweight & small enough to throw in your diaper bag or purse.

Medela Breast Milk Storage Bags: These bags are hygienically pre-sealed with durable material & double-zipper protection to prevent leaking. They can safely store breastmilk in the freezer, fridge, or when traveling! They are self-standing & come with a large write-on area, so you can write the date before storing it.

Medela Quick Clean Wipes: On the go wipes to clean bottles, pumps, changing tables, high chairs, cribs, pacifiers, countertops, toys, and more!

nursing bra + undies

3pk Nursing Bras - Smooth: Went with a size large since my chest has grown so much in pregnancy & I know they will fill out more when my milk comes in. Simple and smooth in very basic neutrals! I will definetly be taking out the pads since I think just normal nursing pads will be less bulky and not add anything extra to my chest like the pads do.

5pk Nursing Bras - Ribbed: Went with a size large since my chest has grown so much in pregnancy & I know they will fill out more when my milk comes in. I love the colors this pack comes in, they are super pretty and love the ribbed texture too. I will definetly be taking out the pads since I think just normal nursing pads will be less bulky and not add anything extra to my chest like the pads do.

Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads: These pads are designed to go between your skin & nursing bra (or normal bra) to soak up any small leaking. It is normal to leak breastmilk! Some may only leak in the beginning & some may continue throughout breastfeeding. These pads have a quilted honeycomb layer to help you stay dry. They recommend changing the pad often to maintain healthy skin; if possible after every feeding.

5 Pack High Waisted Cotton Underwear: Bought these randomly on a whim on Amazon haha so I will update you on how they fit and wear over time! They are supposed to have full back coverage and a high waist, with a large wide elastic waistband. Hoping to wear these with pantyliners or just for lounging around the house.
