At Home Coffee Favorites

coffee at home

I think it was about eight months ago or so that Matt and I bought an espresso machine for our home! After Taya was born, we lived in an apartment right next to one of our favorite coffee shops and we literally went there one or two times a day, it was delicious and fun to be a “regular“ haha.. but we also spent so much money going out for coffee daily. We decided in espresso machine would be a good investment for our home. Matt and a couple of his friends (who love coffee) did a lot of research and decided on the Breville Oracle Touch fully automatic espresso machine. We bought this one in the color brushed stainless steel. What we like about this one is that it has a touchscreen, there is a lot of personalization in coffee strength, temperature, milk texture, and you can save everything with the touchscreen. You also can use it manually and pretty much do everything yours self as well. It’s fairly intuitive although it does have a bit of a learning curve I would say. I think there is some skill in finding consistency in how to make the same shot of espresso every time, but it is worth the practice because when you figure it out it is really delicious.

You definitely don’t need a machine like this to make great coffee at home, I know a lot of friends of mine have Nespresso machines and literally rave about them. So whatever your favorite machine of choice is whether it’s an espresso machine, an espresso, or even a Keurig, this blog post is mostly about all of my favorite things that we use with our coffee every day.

what we use

+ Mason Jar With Lid - I have a couple favorite glasses that I like to use for my coffee! The first one is this mason jar with a screw on lid, it has a massive straw and I feel like it’s just really sturdy. I like to use this for coffee if I am working or moving around the house or feel like I want something with the lid.

+ Small Ribbed Glasses - I also really like these ribbed smaller glasses; they’re also from Amazon. They are really cute but are much smaller in person. I got the biggest size and they’re definitely like a 12 ounce size. I love to use these with a glass straw! These are definitely really cute glasses so if I’m feeling like I wanna be a little bit more fancy haha while I’m sitting at my desk and want to keep a little drink, I will use these.

+ Oat Milk - Our all time favorite oat milk is the Califia Farms Barista Blend! It’s super creamy, gluten-free, and honestly just so delicious. Matt likes hot coffee & I love iced (of course haha) and it works really good for both of our drinks.

+ Vanilla Syrup - This is the vanilla syrup we use! We try to use a minimal amount because it does have a lot of sugar in it, but it has a good flavor that isn’t too fake tasting. This combo gives us the closest taste to a coffee shop latte. We store this on the counter next to the coffee machine in this little 8oz glass syrup bottle.

If you were someone who just likes to drink a Cortada, straight espresso shots, here are a couple cute options that you can drink your espresso from. This style looks like a mini coffee glass which is fun. And I’m not sure who remembers but a couple years ago I bought these black matte spoons thinking they were full sized spoons and they arrived and they are so tiny! I didn’t realize they are meant for coffee stirrers haha. They work great for ice or hot coffee to stir in your flavor. And last but not least of course some good ice trays for a iced latte, these are silicone and easy to pop the cubes out if you don’t already have an ice cube maker. Oh and last thing are the glass straws! I love these straws so much - I feel like they wash up really well in the dishwasher, and I’ve never felt like they would shatter as I’m drinking them. They are thick but not clunky and I’d like the mix of street and bent.
