Healthy-ish "Snickers" Date Snack

so easy & delicious!

This recipe is the one that came across my foryou page on tiktok - but I’m pretty sure it went pretty viral so you may have seen it before. It is definitely a “healthy“ snack that I feel like it is actually worth the hype. It only takes three ingredients, and they are probably things they already have in your pantry! I realized last night that we had dates in our pantry that I had bought to put in my smoothies, so it was the perfect time to try these out. The idea is that they have a similar consistency & flavor to a snickers bar - but of course they are not claiming to be the exact same thing. The consistency of the date is really soft and gooey, kind of like caramel. You can use any type of peanut butter or almond butter, or really any nut butter for the filling. And for the chocolate coating on the outside, I actually used a chocolate bar that had cashew butter on the inside because this is all we had. It turned out incredible in the flavor was so good!

*As I mentioned above, I did not create this recipe - this is the Instagram account that originally posted the recipe!

how to prep + make

  1. To start off place several dates on a plate or tray. You will want to make sure these are pitted, whether they come pre-painted or you do it yourself, make sure the pit is out!

  2. Next slice a thin line down the side of the date, and pull the date in half. This is where you will stuff the nut butter inside. I used a spoon and filled them up all the way (there was about 1 or 2 tablespoons of peanut butter in the date).

  3. To melt the chocolate bar I just placed it in a bowl in the microwave, and put it on a low heat for 30 second increments until it looked like it was starting to get shiny and melted. I think it was about 1 minute & a half total. Just make sure that you don’t overheat it or it will taste burnt! Then I just use that spoon to dunk the dates and make sure they were coated.

  4. Sprinkle with a little bit of sea salt on top, you could also add crunched up pretzels or anything crunchy.

  5. Pop them in the freezer for about 20 minutes to get the melted chocolate a little hardened. You can serve cold right away or just leave them in a sealed container on the counter.

These are super delicious, took me literally 10 minutes to make. And are a fun snack if you’re looking for something that it’s a little bit healthier but was still curb your sweet tooth!
