Grocery List For Smoothies

smoothie makings

We probably place a grocery order once a week, and always try to keep products to make smoothies on hand. Some of these items last weeks because they stay in the freezer, while fresh items like bananas or kiwi obviously only last a few days. These are products that we try to always have available, especially when we are making smoothies most mornings. I have found that you can really mix any of these fruits and vegetables together, and you really can’t go wrong with how the flavor will turn out! I am shockingly surprised how easily the carrots get mixed up in this blender haha. We find this is a great way for all of us to get a few servings of vegetables in right away in the morning. Whether it’s carrots, avocado, kale or spinach, adding veggies into the smoothies is a great way to sneak in vegetables in your diet if you feel like it’s something you lack. Of course you can change the flavor by adding more fruit, juice instead of water, or make it more creamy by adding banana or oatmilk. We really don’t use any recipes for smoothies, we just kind of wing it each day and all of them have really been so good. I try to do about half vegetable and half fruit when I am making them, and just loosely keep that in mind when I am making a smoothie. Anyways this is a similar listen to what products we buy when grocery shopping, as well as some products we try to keep at home, when we are making smoothies often.

grocery list

Liquids:
+
You can always use water of course!
+ Oat Milk (the brand MALK is more expensive but doesn't have all of the other added ingredients some oat milk’s have in them)
+ Coconut Water (fresh and doesn't have much added flavor, but tastier than water ha!)
+ You can always add ice cubes for extra thickness, texture, and to keep the smoothie consistency icy if you don’t have much frozen fruit on hand.

Fresh:
+
Bananas
+ Kiwi
+ Spinach (bagged is fine)
+ Avocado
+ Rasberries
+ Carrots (sounds wild I know, but these blend into smoothies so well and taste great with anything orange or ginger)
+ Oranges

Frozen:
+
Peaches
+ Pineapple (goes great with green smoothies - the flavor offsets spinach and kale)
+ Mango (this is the frozen fruit we used the most because you can buy a big bag and it is cheaper than other fruit. It is a great base for any smoothie because it doesn’t carry a lot of extra flavor)
+ Strawberries
+ Kale (cheaper and lasts so much longer)

Shelf:
+
Chia Seeds (these grind up super small & you won’t even feel the texture of them)
+ Peanut Butter (goes great with berry in smoothies for some sweetness & nuttiness)
+ Collagen Powder
+ Rolled Oats (help make some smoothies super thick + add fiber and vitamins to the smoothie. I think most are gluten free as well)
