Life Recap: January 13-19
january 13:
This past week Matt and I flew to Columbus Ohio on Wednesday the 15th to go visit the Abercrombie HQ! Neither of us had ever been to Ohio and had no idea what to expect. They put us in a really cool hotel called the Joseph right on a downtown street, which overlooked the street. It sorta reminded us of a Portland or even mini Brooklyn with all of the shops, restaurants, and character on the streets and buildings. We really had the BEST time meeting some gals I have been talking to for the past year, exploring the headquarters, and learning more about the fit and story behind A&F denim/clothing. A brand I truly love even more after seeing how big their hearts and passion is!

We got home from Ohio pretty late on Friday night and picked up food on the way home cause we were so tired. The flight from Ohio to Seattle is just about 5 hours which I had NO idea was that long haha sounds crazy but I think of Ohio more as like the mid west, but really its pretty East! We do gain 3 hours coming home though which is the besssst.
Started watching CHEER on Netflix and loved it. I wanted to start it while we were in Ohio but we ended up watching the Netflix documentary on Kevin Hart instead cause Matt wasn’t sure he would get into the cheer one. Actually really liked the Kevin Hart docuseries, it was super eye opening and honest and funny and I was pleasantly surprised that I liked it. CHEER was so crazy good & addictive lol we actually finished it in two nights haha!! Watch it. Even if you don’t like or understand cheer you will love this because of the people you learn to root for & team you cheer on. It is actually really eye opening to how mentally and physically exhausting cheer is too! GO JERRY GO!!! lol love him :)

My sister in law Aly hosted a really cool floral event yesterday at her condo for some friends. She had a florist come & teach us about how to create a bouquet or floral arrangement; waking through steps and technique. It was actually so much fun!! I loved the color palette of white and grey it was super pretty with the greenery! And I had NO idea that eucalyptus was soo potent (in the best way haha) it was so fragrant and fresh smelling, even after washing our hands we could smell it!
Florist: Well & Willow Co.
I shared on Instagram about how I did all of the floral arrangements at our wedding and I am not sure I have ever shared that before! I was looking for ways to save money at the time (almost four years ago!!!) and found that florist were most likely one of the only cost I could take out in order to save money that wouldn’t hopefully impact too much of the look of our wedding. My mom and I did a ton of research online to find where to order flowers, how early to place an order to ship, and spent hours searching for the look I wanted. If you are doing a DIY wedding don’t let yourself get in the headspace that it has to look less expensive. You can do your research and find the same look for less, and just simplify the look and do it yourself. We did have a lot of help from my aunt and bridal party the day before setting everything up. Luckily we were able to pay extra to get in on a Friday night the day before the wedding to set up the tables greenery and hang flowers! We also used greenery to really fill in spaces that needed color since our venue was an empty white barn style. We had a big cross my dad & grandpa made that I thought was amazing with the greenery and a few flowers on top.
Since our wedding was about a week after Valentines Day flower prices were crazy expensive leading up to the wedding; I think a garden rose stem was $6 and one white peony stem was $8.. insane!!! So we did end up buying some of these for the bridal bouquets and a tables but the majority of everything was greenery! My parents were amazing and paid for the wedding, giving us a generous budget, but anything with “wedding” tacked on makes the price automatically 10x more haha. I was super happy with how everything came out!!! Doing your own flowers does take more time and planning but I think saved me a ton of money, and if you are going for a simple greenery look it will be even easier!
Some of the places we ordered flowers/greenery from:
- Sam’s Club
- Costco
- QFC
